Transcription: This marble statue of John C. Calhoun was a gift from the state of South Carolina. Calhoun served in Congress as both a U.S. Representative and a Senator. He also held such prestigious posts as Secretary of War, Secretary of State, and Vice President of the U.S. from 1825 to 1832.
